  1. Respond via email or fax only. No telephone calls please!
  • If you have NOT sent us a resume, include your resume when you reserve your spot in a group information session. (See schedule on page 3.)
  • You will receive an email and directions to the group information session site when we receive your reservation.
  1. Meet minimum qualifications for an NCES referral:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • If you are seeking referrals to tutor in basic math or reading you must attend a math and/or reading workshop before NCES will refer clients to you in these areas. (See page 4.)
  • Some individual referrals have ODE licensure requirements.

WHAT:           North Coast Education Services provides tutoring for children and adults in their homes or at nearby public locations.  We tutor students of all ages in all grades and subjects.  We also provide programs in schools.    

WHEN:          Set your own schedule Monday through Sunday.  Many daytime opportunities are available; some after school, evening, and weekend opportunities.  (Tutors usually work 4 to 20 hours per week, depending on their availability, flexibility, location and skills.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree is required for all referrals.  Teacher licensure or certification, teaching experience and classroom management are required for many positions.  No prior teaching experience is required for some referrals.  Please see individual referrals for details.   NCES seeks to refer clients to tutors who are committed instructors, and who are creative, flexible, sensitive, and patient. 

INVOICING RATE:           

$19 – 25/hr. – depending on which program, the subject, courses & training required, and years of experience.  Intervention Specialist Supervisor/Support Positions $30/hr.

Group Information Session Schedule 

To be considered, you must attend a group information session at the office of North Coast Education Services.  There are no exceptions to this requirement and no additional sessions are being scheduled at this time.  The group information session will explain what North Coast Education Services provides and the types of tutors we are seeking to refer work at this time.  There is no obligation to sign up after attending.

#2   Licensed ODE Teacher/Tutors (Substitute License not allowed) academic tutoring in all subjects in Streetsboro for a 13 year old 8th grader 5 to 6 hours per week. Immediate availability.

#3   Licensed ODE Intervention Specialist Teacher/Tutor 6 hours per week for an 8th grade student with dyslexia in Akron.   Reading and math training required.  Immediate availability.

#4    Licensed ODE Teacher/Tutor (Substitute License not allowed).  11thgrader in Mentor for all subject academic support 2 to 3 hours per week.  Immediate availability.

# 2   Licensed ODE Intervention Specialists to supervise our Autism Scholarship and support Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship tutors and clients throughout Northeast Ohio.  Training and support are provided.  Invoicing rate is $30/hr.  Immediate availability.

No Licensure Required for These Positions

# 1   Teacher/Tutor no licensure required.  High school science tutoring two to three hours per week.  Sessions are held at the student’s Middlefield home, or Chagrin Falls area at a library two hours  two per week.  Immediate availability.

#2   Teacher/Tutor (no licensure required) to tutor a 9th grader in all subject.  10 to 15 hour per week in Cleveland Heights. This includes algebra II and biology.  Can be two tutors.  Student is gifted and high functioning Autistic. Immediate availability.

#3    Teacher/Tutor (no licensure required) to tutor an 8th grader in all subjects in Pepper Pike 12 to 15 hours per week.  Immediate availability.

#4     Teacher/Tutor (no licensure required) for a 9 year old in science, social studies, health and possibly reading or math in Chagrin Falls 6 hours per week.  Immediate availability.

ODE Licensed Tutors

# 1   Licensed ODE Teacher/Tutors to provide academic tutoring to children who are Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship and Autism Scholarship recipients and who have various learning or other disabilities. Sessions are held at the student’s home, private school or nearby library.  Referral opportunities become available in Northeast Ohio cities based on individual client needs. Workshop training required in reading AND math, if students have basic skills deficits (see page 4). 

Non-Licensed Tutors   

# 1    Bachelor Degreed Teacher/Tutors to provide academic tutoring to children who are Autism Scholarship recipients and who have various learning or other disabilities. Sessions are held at the student’s home, private school or nearby library.  Referral opportunities become available in Northeast Ohio cities based on individual client needs. Workshop training required in reading AND math, if students have basic skills deficits (see page 4). 

# 2 Tutor reading (phonics, spelling, and comprehension), writing and study skills. Reading workshop training required (see page 4).

# 3   Tutor basic math (computation skills, math concepts, and word problems).  Math workshop training required (see page 4).

#4    Tutor high school math Algebra 1, Algebra II – Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics No workshop training required. You must be proficient in the subject matter, without needing to “brush up”.

#5    Tutor high school science chemistry, physics, biology, physical science.  (Other sciences as requested.  No workshop training required. You must be proficient in the subject matter, without needing to “brush up”.

#6     High School Foreign Languages:  Spanish, French, Chinese, German, Latin, American Sign Language (Limited availability) No workshop training required. You must be proficient in the subject matter, without needing to “brush up”.

#7     ACT – SAT Test Preparation Prior experience tutoring test prep required

Seeking experienced high school math tutors to assist area high school students in Lake County (i.e. Willoughby, Eastlake, Mentor, Painesville, Perry). Referrals will be kept within a reasonable distance.

Minimum Requirements:
• Must have at least a four-year college degree
• Licensed and substitute teachers must include their current ODE teaching license
• Current BCI and FBI background checks (or be willing to obtain both)
• Must be dependable, approachable and creative with high energy and enthusiasm

Tutor Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one tutoring to high school students taking high school math classes — including Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Functions, and all levels of Algebra. Licensed and substitute teachers are encouraged to apply.

Most tutoring takes place after school hours, in the evening, or on the weekend. Specific days and times will vary by student. Tutoring may take place in the student’s home or at a nearby public location.

Seeking experienced tutors to provide ACT and SAT tutoring to high school students throughout Northeast Ohio. NCES provides in-home tutoring in seven counties — Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Lorain and Medina. Referrals will be kept within a reasonable distance.

Minimum Requirements:
• Must have at least a four-year college degree
• Current BCI and FBI background checks (or be willing to obtain both)
• Must be dependable, approachable and creative with high energy and enthusiasm

Tutor Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one tutoring to high school students preparing to take the ACT and/or SAT exams. Must have experience preparing students for the exams(s) and a strong knowledge base of high school humanities, writing skills, and high school math and science. Licensed and substitute teachers are encouraged to apply.
