Richards Read Systematic Language™ …
Are poor readers lazy or just plain dumb? Definitely not!
Many very bright children and adults have difficulty learning language skills. Often people who struggle with reading perform well and even excel in other activities like math, sports, mechanical ability, or the arts. These children and adults learn by doing. RICHARDS READ Systematic Language is a research-based language development program that utilizes multi-sensory techniques and systematic phonics to learn and improve language skills. RICHARDS READ … WORKS!
RICHARDS READ is effective with different learning styles and learning differences. By encouraging and supporting individual success,
the program builds self-esteem and self-confidence. Students that have struggled with other reading approaches find reading success
with RICHARDS READ which combines systematic phonics with multi-sensory learning.
RICHARDS READ follows the recommendations of the National Reading Panel and the No Child Left Behind legislation which require:
- Phonemic Awareness
- Phonics
- Fluency
- Comprehension
- Vocabulary
RICHARDS READ is a multi-sensory, systematic, and organizaed approach to learning language skills. It is successful one-on-one, in small groups, and in classes. Students improve reading comprehension, decoding, spelling, and writing skills.
Students who use RICHARDS READ use their senses – auditory, visual, tactile (touch), and kinesthetic (muscle movement) to understand and recall language components. While most language programs rely on rote memorization, the RICHARDS READ multi-sensory approach improves decoding, spelling, comprehension, and writing skills.
Students learn to identify and simplify structure of any reading material, and are able to:
- Conceptualize – understand and visualize concepts
- Problem-solve – build critical thinking skills
- Manage information – use and apply data
RICHARDS READ is a valuable and wonderful learning tool for children and adults who struggle with reading. Students who do not succeed in school because of poor reading ability are able to become good, and even excellent, readers. RICHARDS READ also offers solutions for individuals with learning differences, those classified as slow readers and readers who have poor comprehension ability. This program provides readers with a system to decode words, comprehend what is read, and write words and sentences. Once mastered, the RICHARDS READ system becomes automatic.
Students who have difficulty identifying the relative importance of facts in writing or lectures also benefit from RICHARDS READ. The system provides a framework for students to mentally classify the parts or elements of the subject material. Students then relate these elements to the entire context.
The RICHARDS READ program is effective for all levels of learners. Since the complexity and speed of the program can be tailored to the individual learner, students from kindergarten through college benefit. This systematic and organized approach to learning gives students of all ages and skill levels a sense of comfort and understanding.
RICHARDS READ Systematic Language incorporates the best features of other proven reading programs. This combination of systematic and multi-sensory approaches has resulted in an effective program to improve a student’s phonics, spelling, comprehension, writing and study skills.

Proven Effective
Research based, RICHARDS READ Systematic Language was studied in several school districts. The research shows tremendous reading improvement by students in RICHARDS READ programs. When compared to similar students in parallel “control groups”, progress is enormous. Research results among adults are also exciting and most impressive.
